Thanksgiving and its History
Thanksgiving
is a holiday is a celebrated across the U.S., but did you know that when it was
first celebrated in 1621 that the Plymouth colonist didn’t celebrate it year
after year like how it is now. Let me give you a little summary of how
Thanksgiving became a national holiday. In 1621 the Plymouth colonist who settled
here from England were looking to sail to freedom to practice their own faith
began to settle to the “New World”. The colonist first celebrated Thanksgiving
to reward themselves of a successful harvest they grew and with that they
invited the local Wampanoag Indians to celebrate their achievements with a
three day long feast that included eating, hunting, and entertainment.
